Waldmeister

Back to the future: The German-based brand Waldmeister sells exclusive bicycles which are made from a unique material. If you’re thinking graphite or maybe titanium, then you’re way off the mark. The Waldmeister frame is made entirely of wood! On top of that, it sports a unique design and unprecedented comfort as it doesn’t use a conventional saddle pipe. All the other components, besides the handcrafted wooden frame, can be chosen individually by the customer. Which leaves us with one more question: What kind of bike is the Waldmeister?

Marcus Wallmeyer calls it a cruiser; the BrandNew jury called it beautiful and very special. www.supernova-Design.com

Easy-Glider

Personal mobility and the environment: In this era of climate change debate, the combination of “personal mobility” and “environment” seems destined to create conflict. Not so with the new Easy-Glider from Switzerland. This eco-friendly, multifunctional mode of transport can be used like a modern Ben Hur-style chariot (minus the horses!)

or as an e-motorized support for inline skaters. With the attachable “char” trailer, the Easy-Glider takes you from A to B without working up a sweat. Removing the char, an inline skater can use the Easy-Glider as a fun pulling mechanism – guaranteed to get the attention of onlookers. All this, and the Easy-Glider benefits from the usual Swiss excellence in manufacturing and finishing.

And while the product may not be the embodiment of a sporting good, the jury agreed that the fun factor and ecological advantages make the product a true and well-deserved winner in this summer’s BrandNew Awards.

Webble Launch at NeoCon 2007
Source: thewebble.com

Developed by three award-winning product designers, the Webble™ embraces the concept of mobility and a belief that ergonomic can be stylish and fun. "When we looked at the best foot rests available today, we saw a huge oppor opportunity for innovation in both function and form," says Steve Vassallo, founder of BriteObjects. "Upon investigating the category further, we became encouraged by the research that pointed to the physiological benefits of leg activity while seated, and with this in mind, we decided to depart from the static, almost orthopedic aesthetic of most foot rests, and instead focus on the positive expe experiences associated with free motion and flexibility," he adds.
